SSC CGL 2015


Staff Selection Commission is a Central Government Recruitment Agency established to provide jobs for students of Secondary, Senior Secondary and Graduated and so on.


For recruitment procedure, SSC conducts many exams every year for different departments (Central Secretariat Service, Central Vigilance Commission, Intelligence Bureau, Ministry of Railways, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Defense, CBI and a few other Ministries / Departments / Organizations of the Central Govt.) and their posts (Assistant, Inspector, Divisional Accountant, Statistical Officer, Auditor, Accountant, Junior Accountant, UDC, Tax Assistant, Compiler and many more).

Combined Graduation Level Exam is also one of the exams conducted by SSC. This exam is aimed to provide employment only to graduate students. Apart from CGL, SSC conducts many more exams which are as follows :-


  • 1)  Combined Graduate Level Examination (CGLE) for posts of Inspector in IT / Central Excise / Dept of post, SI in CBI, Assistant, Divisional Accountant, Auditor, UDC and Junior Accountant etc.
  • 2)  Combined Higher Secondary level examination.
  • 3)  Sub-Inspector in CPO (BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB).
  • 4)  Section Officer (Audit & Commercial).
  • 5)  Junior Engineers Examination.
  • 6)  Compiler Exam.
  • 7)  Statistical Investigator.

SSC CGL Eligibility


  • I.  Qualification-

Minimum Eligibility Requirement for Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level Exam is that the candidate must be at least graduated from known university.


  • II.  Age Limit-

The age of the candidate must be in between 18 to 27 years only.

SSC CGL Exam Pattern

SSC exam for graduate students is conducted in three tiers- Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III.

Personality Test and Interview

Tier-I and Tier-II consists four similar sections but the difficulty level from Tier-I to Tier-II remain high.

Pattern of Tier-I

  • 1)  General Intelligence and Reasoning
  • 2)  General Awareness
  • 3)  Quantitative Aptitude
  • 4)  English Comprehension

Each Section will consist of 50 questions of total 50 marks. Time duration will be 2 hours for each Tier.
(Extra 40 min will be provided to Visually Handicapped Candidates).

Total Marks – 200
Time Duration – 2 hours (2 hours 40 min for VH candidates)
Negative Marking – 0.25 Marks for each wrong answer.

Pattern of Tier-II

Tier-II is conducted in three sections of


  • 1)  Quantitative Abilities (100 questions of 200 marks)
  • 2)  English Language and Comprehension (200 questions of 200 marks)
  • 3)  Statics (100 questions of 200 marks)

Interview round will consider only QA and English Sections so According to this-

Total Questions – 400

Total Marks - 400

Time Duration – 2 hours (2 hours 40 min for VH Candidates)

Negative Marking –

  • 1)  0.25 Marks for each wrong answer in English and Statics Section.
  • 2)  0.50 Marks for each wrong answer in QA Section.

Application Fee for Exam
Application fee for exam is just Rs. 100/- and Other Category Aspirants, Women, Physically handicapped and Ex-Servicemen are exempted from paying fee.

How to Apply for SSC CGL Exam
The candidates may apply in two modes for SSC CGL Exam- Either Online or Offline.


  • Online Mode-

Visit to the website – www.ssc.nic.in
Fill all the required details appropriately, upload photo and signature and at the end make online payment and finally submit the form.


  • Offline Mode-

Download the application form, Fill all the details by using blue pen and paste your photo and make signature wherever indicated.
At last, attach your documents (if needed) with the application form and speed post it to SSC office, New Delhi.

Selection Procedure of SSC CGL
SSC CGL Aspirants must have cleared all the three tiers of Exam: Tier-I, Tier-II and Tier-III.
