IIT JAM Test Schedule and Application Fee

  • It is the first time when IIT Varanasi, IIT Bhilai and IIT Palakkad are offering admission through JAM 2019.

  • A candidate can apply for at most two test papers in IIT JAM Exam.

  • The application fee for IIT JAM 2019 is as follows:

    Female/SC/ST/PwD - ₹ 750 (for one paper), ₹ 1050 (for two papers)

    All Others - ₹ 1500 (for one paper), ₹ 2100 (for two papers)

  • The online examination will be held in two sessions. The schedule for different test papers of JAM 2019 is given below.

IIT JAM 2019 Eligibility

To apply for the topmost coveted IIT MSc entrance exam, an aspirant must fulfil following requirements.

  • All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor’s degree.

  • In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding-off should be at least 55% or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC (NCL) category candidates and 50% or 5.0 out of 10 for SC/ST and PwD category candidates.

Note: Aggregate percentage are calculated taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined.

Question Paper Pattern for IIT JAM 2019

Make sure you know the negative marking scheme for IIT JAM Exam too. JAM 2019 examination will be conducted for the seven test papers, namely-

  • Biological Sciences (BL)

  • Biotechnology (BT)

  • Chemistry (CY)

  • Geology (GG)

  • Mathematics (MA)

  • Mathematical Statistics (MS)

  • Physics (PH)

All seven test papers will be of objective type, with three different patterns of questions as follows:

  • Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
  • Each MCQ type question has four choices out of which only one choice is the correct answer.

  • Multiple Select Questions (MSQ)
  • Each MSQ type question is similar to MCQ but with a difference that there may be one or more than one choice(s) that are correct out of the four given choices.

  • Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions
  • For each NAT type question, the answer is a signed real number which needs to be entered using the virtual keypad on the monitor. No choices will be shown for these types of questions.

Admitting Institutes for JAM 2019

There are total 19 IITs that offer the admissions to various M.Sc. programs based on the IIT JAM 2019 Scores.
Apart from these IITs, 20 National Institute of Technologies (NITs) and 4 Centrally Funded Technical Institutes are also participating as IIT JAM 2019 Admitting Institutes.
